I bleed Dai-Yere Blue, ay, yi, yi!

Nomar's batting .375 for the Dodgers

While I was lamenting the breakdown of the Phillies, and sweet Mary and Moses what a break down it's been, the Dodgers were busy winning 11 of their last 12. They are now half a game back of the first place Diamondbacks.

Why is this? Because of my rant. Also because they have been getting starting pitching and good hitting. I'm really mad at the Dodgers blog I linked on my sidebar because they haven't updated in 15 fucking days.

I'm a better Dodgers blog and I almost never discuss the Dodgers. Deadspin needs to talk about the Dodgers more. I don't like this all purpose sports blog, it's too broad. I already have espn.com for that. Give me Dodgers news damn it!

And whatever happened to one time Dodger hero Jose Lima? Remember when he said he bleeds Dayere blue? And now he's a terrible pitcher for the hated Mets with an ERA of like 14.00.

By the way, I rediscovered my throw to third yesterday and played pretty well in our softball game. Now my arm is sore, but a good sore.

Tuesday Bases

Today's Picks:
New York Yankees +110 1 unit (Pinnacle)
Starting Pitchers: Mussina vs Harden
There is the fact that the Yankees are a powerhouse (love them or hate them--I love them), and the fact that they destroyed Oakland last night, and now they are being offered at + odds? Hmm... It gets better when you look at the pitching matchup. Mussina last season was 2-0 vs OAK with a 1.13 ERA. Harden last season vs NYY was 0-2 with over a 6 ERA. Seems like there is only one choice on the side here, especially with the odds I got as soon as the line popped out.
Consider: ALT runline at -1.5 +175.
Matchup Information

¤ Houston Astros -1.5 +100 1 unit (Pinnacle)
Starting Pitchers: Pettite vs Mitre
I don't have too much to say about this except Pettite is a strong pitcher. I loved watching him last year in the playoffs and Mitre was a 2-5 pitcher on the Cubs with over a 5 ERA. Fading the Florida Marlins when they don't have Willis on the mound. Mitre is young himself, only born in 1981.
Matchup Information

¤ Braves/Dodgers over 7 -120 1 unit (Pinnacle)
Starting Pitchers: Smoltz v Penny
Yesterday's game was a shootout. I don't like the juice on this one, but I'm not gonna buy a half run because then I get the opportunity for a push. A 3-4 game seems like it will be easy as hell to reach, just for my push. Smoltz is solid, no doubt about that, but he is 38 years old and when he has a bad day it is bad. Brad Penny was a losing pitcher last year and most of the games near the end of the season were all over 7 runs.
Matchup Information

Anyway, good day yesterday going 3-0 and keeping a loss away so far. All plays are one unit still, as there is no reason to risk more since the season is just beginning. Please comment and discuss these games, and other games if you would like.
Goodluck

Flag Burning is ok by Jim Webb

This is an easy issue. You either support flag burning or you don't. There is no middle ground on this issue. Jim Webb thinks burning our flag is ok. That is a great talking point for us here in SWVA. I plan on visiting the local VFW's with that info, you should also. When someone mentions Jim Webb to me I will gladly offer up his support of flag burning. I remember in 1976 being glued to a tv watching the Chicago Cub's play the LA Dodgers. Does anyone else remember that game? Lunatics jump onto the field with lighter fluid and a flag. Before they can ignite Old Glory Cub's outfielder Rick Monday swoops in and grabs the flag! Jim Webb would have knocked Monday down protecting the flag burners so called freedom of speech. You can hear Rick Monday's account of this here. This week in the Senate Sen Allen will be fighting for legislation to once again make flag burning illegal.

Allen Supports Flag Protection Amendment

ARLINGTON, VA - Declaring that "the American flag transcends our political differences and unites us as Americans," Virginia U.S. Senator George Allen today reaffirmed his longtime support of the Flag Protection Amendment which will be considered by the Senate this week......

The Senate begins debate today and is expected to vote this week on the Flag Protection Amendment which would amend the constitution to authorize Congress to prohibit the physical desecration of the flag of the United States. Senator Allen is a cosponsor of the amendment.
